HPT Returns to Soaring Eagle for Season X

Mt. Pleasant, MI - May 16, 2014 - The nationally-televised Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) is making a couple of return trips to one of its most popular tour stops, Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.  The cards hit the felt for the first 10-day series on July 25, 2014 with the Main Event kicking off on August 1, 2014. Soaring Eagle will also host HPT's Championship Open in late November. The second 10-day series runs from November 14-23, 2014.

Located in the heart of Michigan, Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort has had the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond rating for 16 consecutive years. Popular amenities include a full-service spa, award-winning dining, over 4,300 slots and over 50 live games such as blackjack, roulette, craps and more.

"We are grateful to our Michigan partner for providing a great atmosphere for our players," said Jen Mastrud, HPT's Director of Operations. "After their first visit to the property, players won't miss another HPT event at Soaring Eagle."

HPT has visited Soaring Eagle nine times since 2008. Main Event players have built prize pools in excess of three quarters of a million dollars. Michigan native Robert West walked away with $234,410 after defeating a field of 545 entrants. The previous year, Ahmed Harajli of Dearborn Heights, Michigan scored $176,865 and the HPT title. At just 20 years old, Jordan Jayne became an HPT champ and collected $165,462.

Poker enthusiasts will have a chance to get in on the action for as little as $41 in various satellite opportunities. The Main Event will feature the popular tournament structure designed by pro Daniel Negreanu exclusively for HPT. "The new structure is deep throughout," said reigning HPT Player of the Year Allen Kessler. "It provides more play than competing series and gives players fifty percent more starting chips. HPT got it right."

HPT now televises more tournaments in the world than any other tour, bringing a full production set to each stop. The episodes filmed at Soaring Eagle will be syndicated to over 110 million homes throughout the United States, in addition to widespread distribution throughout Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
