The $350 Mini Series Main Event at Ameristar St. Charles drew 416 total players. There are 55 returning for Day 2 action today but only one can walk away with the $28,710 first-place prize.
Flight A on Friday saw 146 entries and yesterday's Flight B drew 270 players for a two-day total of 416 total entries. That created a prize pool of $124,800. Cards are in the air for the 55 players who made it through to Day 2. Of those players, 45 are guaranteed at least $686. The top 3 will all earn a 5-figure payday with first place taking home $28,710.
The overall chip leader to start the day is Brian Schoonover with 273,000 chips. Several other notables made it through the first two flights of the local-heavy field including past Main Event champion Matt Paten and former local news anchor Larry Conners.
This weekend Hollywood Casino Columbus will host the first televised poker event in Ohio history. The Heartland Poker Tour $1,650 Main Event kicks off with the first of three starting flights Thursday at 2pm. Flights B and C are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, both noon starts.
