Restaurateur Bob Reiter padded his Hendon Mob stats Monday afternoon with a big win in Colorado. The Denver man topped a field of 471 entries at Golden Gates to take home the HPT title along with over $157k. Here's a recap of the final table as told by Dan Ross of Hold'em Radio...
Running over the field early in the day, Bob Reiter needed more than three hours heads-up to defeat Tan Hoang and earn the HPT Black Hawk Main Event title. Reiter takes home $157,614 for the victory.
"I just ran incredibly well early in the day," said Reiter as he scored the first three eliminations of the day, taking out Matthew Wantman (9th), Jason Welch (8th) and Jacob Battenberg (7th).
Once heads-up play began, Reiter had about a 3-1 lead on Hoang. The match went jsut shy of four hours, however, before Reiter claimed the win.
"I was trying to hammer away, steal a lot of pots, and he was trying to trap me," said Reiter. "That was such a challenge, three hours and it feels like longer. I feel very fortunate."
The Reiter's have new baby, two weeks old, so part of the prize money is going to necessary items.
"Definitely some diapers, We gotta get him some onesies also. We didn't know it was going to be a boy and we only have girls' clothes right now," Reiter said.
Hoang has back-to-back HPT Black Hawk runner-up finishes, his $96,354 payday today goes along with last September's runner-up finish to Jay McVeigh here for $85,123.
Taylor Black (3rd), former HPT Black Hawk champ Thomas Fuller (4th), Eli Loewenthal (5th) and George Medina (6th) rounded out the final table finishes.
Others who earned a HPT Black Hawk Main Event cash this weekend was Danny Gonzales (10), Ed Sebesta (28), Ryan Dodson (32), David Gutfreund (34), Aaron Johnson (35), James Pupillo (37), Hill Kerby (45) and John Beauprez (50).
